The Brainerd Warriors opened the 2011 season in the MBSLA North and took it on the chin Friday and Saturday losing to state runners-up Orono 16-2 on Friday and last years state champions St. Louis Park 14-4 on Saturday. Although Brainerd lost both games, they played two of the best MBSLA teams in the state and that experience should help them as the season progresses.
Brainerd senior midfielder Jacob Reichenbach scored both of the Warriors goals on Friday night with senior midfielder Keith Haymaker getting an assist. Ononos' Chandler Sampson led all scorers with 7 goals and an assist. Alex Gross a had 4 goals and an assist for Orono, while Parker Gross contributed 4 assists and a goal.
Against St. Louis Park, senior attackman Zach Brown led the Warriors scorers with 2 goals and an assist, while Keith Haymaker and Jacob Reichenbach contributed a goal apiece and freshman midfielder Kristian Haymaker added an assist.
