Brainerd Wins First MBSLA North Matchup of the Season Over Fargo

The Fargo Warriors lost their first game in the emerging history of Fargo high school lacrosse 18-2 to Brainerd.  It was the first game ever for the new Fargo lacrosse program and the first MBSLA North matchup of the season.  While the loss was disappointing, it could not dampen the excitement of the first high school lacrosse team in North Dakota.

Brainerd displayed a balanced offensive attack with 11 players scoring a goal. Mitchell Howieson had 3 Goals and 5 Assists for 8 points, Jake Reichenbach had 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points, Jeremy Young scored 4 goals, Keith Haymaker scored a goal and had 3 assists for 4 points, and Zach Brown, Adam Casperson, and Randy Flores each scored a goal and an assist for 2 points each. Also scoring for Brainerd was Josh Garber, Jordan Schmaltz, Cody Gustafson, and Kristian Haymaker.

Kevin Lechner posted a .600 save percentage on the night.

In the second MBSLA North matchup of the season, Fargo came out on the short end again in a 14-2 loss to St. Could North.  Fargo plays next in the Shakopee tournament on May 1.  Brainerd takes the field again on Thursday night in another North Conference game against Grand Rapids at 6:00 p.m.
