The UMD Bulldogs will now have to win the UMLL Conference tournament for a chance to play in the MCLA National Championship Tournament in Denver after losing in overtime to conference rival University of Minnesota on April 15, 8-7. It was a miserable night for lacrosse at Griggs Stadium in Duluth with high winds and frigid temperatures. UMD dropped another close game, losing by 1 goal in overtime to an improving University of Minnesota team.
On Sunday, the Bulldogs found a little redemption, beating a solid Sonoma State (6-6) team 8-2. The Bulldogs finish the regular season with a disappointing 5-7 record.
UMD will enter the April 29-May 1 UMLL tournament as the #2 seed. Their first tournament game will be April 30 at 3:30 p.m. against the winner of the St. Cloud State/MSU-Mankato game. The UMLL championship game will take place on Sunday May 1 at 4:30 p.m.
